We are a publication with a focus on immersive media. We are the team from immerVR that you might already know from our VR media player app, immerGallery, for viewing immersive photos and videos.
The main areas we cover are 3D cameras, VR180, 360°, and spatial photos and videos. We also cover relevant VR headset news, technology developments, reviews, tips, and guides, combined with practical experience with immersive media.
Currently, news and information are scattered across different places. Sometimes they are generally about VR, but without a focus on immersive media. Sometimes they are about cameras, but without a focus on 3D and VR camera topics. We want to bring these areas together in one central place for everyone interested in creating their own immersive media or enjoying content from other creators, with clear and independent coverage of news from this space.
It is our goal to provide you with information beyond simple press releases. Based on our experience working daily with immersive/3D media, both from a technical and software development standpoint and from a content creation perspective, we evaluate relevant news specifically for these uses to give you a good idea of how it affects the field of immersive media.
We research our articles ourselves, without payment from third-party companies. In some cases, we might use affiliate links, which are clearly marked and do not influence our judgment or writing.
Our main author, Daniel Pohl, is known as a pioneer in the area of computer graphics, having applied real-time ray tracing to games as early as 2004 while studying computer science at the University of Erlangen. Real-time ray tracing became a must-have feature for GPUs and games in 2018.
Daniel spent 14 years at Intel Corporation in Silicon Valley and Germany, most recently as a senior research scientist in computer graphics and AI. Besides filing about 70 patents, he also published numerous scientific research papers on virtual reality, rendering, in-home streaming, and computer vision methods. Several of these received Best Paper Awards.
In October 2021, driven by his passion for virtual reality, he founded immerVR GmbH. In August 2026, he started immerNews, where he regularly writes articles.
